Start the new year with a clean slate!
December 20, 2020
One common annoyance we get asked for help with is how to tame your mailbox.
If you haven’t already, start creating custom folders for items you receive regularly.
Many people do this part but never take the next step by creating a rule.
Click on the email you’ll like to automatically sort and then click on “create rule” – I usually suggest ticking the top and bottom check boxes which sort based on the “from address” and then “move to folder” so that you can select your custom folder.
If you’ve never done this before, make sure you also tick the option to run the “rule on existing emails” – this will save you heaps of frustration by locally and sorting all previously received emails that should also be in that folder!
What about spam?
Most will delete it or mark it as spam so that it ends up in your spam folder.
Here’s a better option.
Go to your deleted items (because you would have deleted most of it over the last year), and arrange your deleted items by “From”.
Once you do this you’ll be able to easily scroll through and see just how many emails you are receiving from the same company.
If there’s more than 5, it’s time to locate that unsubscribe link and get rid of it!
